Undergoing routine cleanings and examinations is one of the most effective ways to prevent decay and gum disease. We recommend that patients undergo a dental exam twice per year. During these visits, we will remove plaque and tartar from teeth and look for the early signs of common oral health concerns. By spotting issues at their earliest stages, Drs. Brian Hirschfield and Devan Berry can often provide effective treatment with minimally invasive methods.
As periodontal (gum) disease develops and advances, it can lead to tooth loss and compromised oral health. Fortunately, we have a highly experienced periodontist on staff who offers a full range of specialized services. If we diagnose you with a moderate case of gum disease, we can restore your periodontal health by performing a scaling and root planing procedure, or deep cleaning. Depending on your needs, we can also provide antibiotic periodontal treatments with Arestin®.
When bacteria reaches the interior of a tooth, a dental infection can develop and spread rapidly. Eventually, the tooth may need to be extracted to prevent future concerns. Fortunately, root canal therapy can restore the health of an infected tooth and prevent the need for extraction. During the root canal procedure, Dr. Hirschfield or Dr. Berry will remove infected tissue and then restore your tooth with a custom dental crown. Our dentists will utilize a combination of local anesthetic and a gentle touch to ensure your comfort, and we can also provide sedation, if desired.
At Lakeview Dental, we perform extractions using advanced techniques to minimize discomfort. We can extract impacted wisdom teeth to prevent misalignment and other issues. Although we will always do our best to salvage the health of a tooth, we also perform extractions in cases of severe dental damage or infection. After undergoing an extraction at our practice, we offer a range of restorative treatments to renew the look and function of your smile.
If you suffer from dental phobia, our sedation options can help you remain at ease so that you can receive the quality care you deserve. With oral sedation, you will take an anti-anxiety medication to put you in a state of deep relaxation. We also offer intravenous (IV) sedation, which can be adjusted during treatment. Dr. Hirschfield has been certified by the state of New York to provide IV sedation, so you can rest assured that you are in highly skilled hands.
The team at Lakeview Dentistry proudly treats patients of all ages in order to help families achieve and maintain a lifetime of healthy smiles. Our caring staff members will use a friendly approach to help ensure that your child has a positive experience each time he or she visits our practice. When treating older patients, we take into account the vital connection between oral and overall health. No matter your age, your care will be custom tailored based on your unique needs.
